About Lisa

Everyone has a story...

We all have life changing experiences that leave us feeling a bit lost. These can come at any time in our life, for any reason.

My own story has many up’s and down’s. By sharing it, I hope it inspires you to want to get to know your own energy and let your life unfold in the way that you choose.

Here is how my experiences led me to Reiki and be able to sense energy and develop my intuition. Leading me to believe that to get to know your own energy, is to get to know you.

Before Reiki

My family was open to spiritual healing and the use of complementary therapies. Despite having positive experiences, it felt totally mystical and left me feeling skeptical. Other than that my teens were normal. I did my A‘levels, got bored of schooling and jumped on the work treadmill.

I then started to feel there had to be more to life and tried to satisfy this feeling at night school by attending a class in aromatherapy. When that wasn’t enough, I decided to do a degree in psychology with the Open University.

This felt like progress. It was 1998. Life was good. I had a full time job at a computer company and was engaged, ready to plan a wedding.

Can you remember the 90’s? The internet had not been fully established. It meant there were few influences beyond your circle of friends, teen magazines or pop culture tv, with a heavy dose of Brit Pop and Indie Music.

In 2001 my life changed forever when I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. By 2003, at 27, I was divorced and no longer felt I knew who I was. I felt lost and scared of an unknown future.

Discovering Reiki

Although I tried to keep an open mind, I was skeptical of anything that seemed mystical or was termed “New Age”.

Reiki sounded similar to spiritual healing and seemed like something that anyone could do. It was also not based in any religion and therefore felt accessible.

So I took the leap and booked myself on a Reiki 1 course to find out what this energy is for myself.

I continued my research, learning to use Reiki with animals and applied it to Swedish massage, life coaching, dream analysis, and meditation. More recently, I have started to research how it works with trees.

And of course, I applied it to myself at home and work. It supported me to find ways to adapt to and accept my condition, manage anxieties, challenges and to help build my confidence to sing.

I also met someone who supported all I do and accepted me for who I am. Our wedding was based on a hand-fasting ceremony with my Reiki mentor as celebrant.

By 2008 I had completed my Psychology degree and trained to Reiki Level 3.

My Approach to Reiki

I have explored energy practice with a dose of skepticism. I expect nothing and see what it is I experience. I often question it and then see what happens next time.

Combining my understanding of psychology and Reiki, I now view energy as just another influence on behaviour. Everything we do has an effect on how balanced that energy is. When it is out of balance we feel out of balance too.

For me, the purpose of giving and using Reiki is to support others to experience the long term benefits of getting to know their own energy and keeping it in balance.

I believe that becoming aware of your energy, helps you understand how you perceive and react to the world. This compliments the main approach of spiritual coaching practice.

Ultimately – To Know Energy, is to Know you.

Your pets are a huge part of your life. Reiki can provide them with a balanced space for them to self-heal as they need to.

Please note: Complementary therapies are not an alternative to conventional medicine.

A practitioner leaves diagnosis to a medical professional.

You should seek advice from your GP/Vet on acute or infectious conditions and in connection with problems of an urgent nature.

Owners must obtain permission from their vet before commencing Reiki for their pet.
