Animal Reiki

Animals are our friends bringing comfort during testing times. They are a member of our family, and we treat them with equal respect.

As with humans, animals have an energy system that can sometimes be out of balance.

What happens in a session?

The first session includes a full consultation. This will help me to understand the animal’s diet, condition, and behaviour with the family, owners and caretakers. I also like to observe the animal in their natural setting to sense the energy dynamics throughout the body.

During the Reiki, I will ensure the animal is comfortable and at a time of natural rest. I position myself where I can place my hands either on or over the body. No pressure is applied.

Most owners like to stay to observe. They may also experience a sense of calm during the session. Sometimes an animal will only settle with its owner present. Occasionally, an animal will involve the owner in some way. For example, by sitting on their lap.

Sessions may also involve Reiki for the pet’s owner/carer if they are willing.

How do animals respond?

Every animal will respond in their own way. Some walk away after ten minutes or prefer to sit a little bit away from me. I often find that during the first session they are accepting, yet unsure.

Over a couple of sessions they start to become less distracted and often find a way to show me where they want me to place my hands. Some fall asleep.

Please note: Complementary therapies are not an alternative to conventional medicine.

A practitioner leaves diagnosis to a vet and requires all pet owners to seek professional advice on acute or infectious conditions, and in connection with problems of an urgent nature.

Owners must obtain permission from their vet before commencing Reiki with their pet.
